My thoughts;  John, you do a super job selection of poster of the months.

MERRY CHRISTMAS One and ALL.

Love Aunt Patty.

Why thank you Patty.  I had last year's snow background up for a while and it didn't quite suit me...:-)  Hard to believe Christmas is sneaking up so fast.  I have opted not to contribute to Canada's non-competitive airline industry by spending $1,000 on a relatively short flight to Moncton.  Figure I shall take my time and do the drive.  -24 with the windchill here in Toronto the other day.  Coldest temperature I have felt in 8 years - I think I forgot what cold was!  John

Hi all,

Any word on the arrival of Suzanne and Howard's baby?

My father was taken to hospital this morning and believed to be suffering from congestive heart failure.  He is now in ICU at Miramichi hospital and on a respirator.  Although he is unconcious, his health signs have improved through the day and further news is anticipated tomorrow.  Kingston is flying home from Florida this evening.  Going to wait to see what tomorrow says.  JV

I understand that Uncle Bill is doing better today.  That is wonderful news!  Please keep us posted on his status.  My thoughts and prayers go to him.

Thank you Mary Ellen.  He is doing better but not quite out of the woods yet.  They removed the respirator today however he was not able to breathe on his own.  Mother says its all one step at a time and they will try again tomorrow.  He can understand those around him at times which is also great as Kingston is there as well.

Got my budget approved for next year today which means my job security is now 99% here in Toronto.  That suits me fine..:-) I mentioned to Tom he was due for a Gill Net entry as well as an update for Suz's baby and he indicated he'll be by with a note...JV

John V and Family,

I wish Uncle Bill a quick recovery, our prayers are with you and your family.  Will write a more detailed 'year that was note' next week to come complete with some photos. Would like other lurkers and absentees to do the same (think of the postage you will save!) as my thoughts turn often to my extended Kingston family over the holiday season ( and those great chaotic visits to Lawlor Lane on Christmas Day when I was wee and the get-togethers at other houses as we got older).

Love to all,
Brenda

Hello Again,

Kevin called this pm to indicate Dad is off the respirator, sitting up, talking and wants to go home.  He definitely appears on his way to a great recovery although he may have to stick around and rest at the hospital for about a week or so.  I also hear Uncle George is on the mend as well.  Anyhow, I agree Stephen the Gill Net cuts down wieght on postage costs over the holiday.

To The Vickers Family: We are very sorry to hear about Bill. Glad to hear that he has improved, all of our prayers are with him.  With his attitude I know he will get better quickly. God Bless Everyone, Fred Quinn.

Have a wonderful Christmas Fred and best wishes to your family.  It's great having you as a Gill Net visitor.  Dad has made a remarkable recovery thus far and should even be able to get back to his same old self.  Amazing.  I also heard through the grape vine today Kevin V has accepted the position as Chief Inspector for the RCMP for Canada and will be relocating to Ottawa.

Message from Suzanne Kingston at suehowe@nbnet.nb.ca:

Well...this is my very first non-lurker visit!  It is 2 am and I am having trouble sleeping ...thinking about what needs to be done for the arrival of baby #2.  I thought I'd distract myself with some lurking at the Kingston family web-site...I generally don't feel toooo guilty about lurking (although I know we lurkers must be judged pretty harshly by you active participants) but I did feel some pangs of guilt when I read there were questions about the upcoming birth.  Great strategy for getting us lurkers involved!!!

Anyway...things are going well...I am due on Thurs. the 19th.  I went early for Charlie but I don't think that is going to happen this time.  I am feeling pretty good.  If the the affection Charlie expresses to my belly is any indication of how he will react to his new little brother then things might go well.  How did our mothers' handle things with so many???

I am sure soon after the birth we will send an annoucement to the Gill Net... so stay posted!

In other news my Dad is doing really well.  He left the hospital today after having bowel surgery to remove what the doctors thought was a cancerous tumour.  It turns out that the tumour was pre-cancerous.  Initially his recovery from the surgery was a bit tricky but all seems well now.  He was just making sure we really appreciate him!

Well...Merry Christmas and happy holidays!  It is nice to come out in the open behind that lurker curtain...your encouraging interest helped!

Lots of Love from:
Suzanne, Howard, Charlie & Magnus John (this in the name currently on the table)

Well hello Sam J. Kingston and Suzanne B. Kingston!!!

Merry Christmas all!!

I haven't posted to the GillNet in....... er, um... I really don't remember, but I must say that was a fine opening note to the GillNet, Suzanne!  And Sam, I don't remember many of your postings either.  I did go to itsonlywords.com and there were a few compositions from somebody named "Sam".  Were they yours?  Or do you have another pen name?

On Saturday, I leave Vancouver flying to Saint John on Sunday, arriving on the Miramichi probably late Monday afternoon.

I look forward to seeing my three sisters, Patricia, Martha, and Suzanne and assorted nephews and nieces on Sunday in Saint John.

Growing up, I was surrounded by sisters.  I'm the sixth oldest of eight.  Fourth and fifth were sisters and seventh and eight were sisters.  My brothers abandoned me from the start, being both second and third... I suppose that's one thing about abandonment - after many years you don't even remember... I wonder if Michael and John (second and third) remember or, even cared, even once!!

Today, I bought myself a Christmas present, a digital camera, my first camera ever.  So expect to get your picture taken if I see you this Christmas.

I'm glad to hear Dad got out of the hospital today... thanks for the news, Sue...

Merry Christmas again!!

Message from Monica Vickers at lawlor lane, Miramichi:

Hello Everyone,
Merry Christmas to all!  I am having my son John dictate my Christmas note.  It is sure great to have all my boys home.  Bill is improving daily and is on the mend.

We had a lovely Christmas here on Lawlor Lane.  Having Bill recover the way in which he has, has certainly made our Christmas.

Hope all is well at your house Patty.  A parcel is coming for you one of these fine days for both yourself and your granddaughter Sara.  Hope you have had a lovely Christmas.

All though I don't get on here often, I get lots of updates as to the happenings on the Gill Net Lodge. I am glad to see that it is still going.

Christmas wishes to Fred Quinn and family from Bill and myself and to all other Gill Netter's.

God Bless,

Monica

Hello,
Stephanie Seng, I spoke with my Aunt Stephanie Kingston (formerly Seng) and asked her if she knew of you. Stephanie is originally from Montreal and her father was Doctor Magnus Seng and he was originally from Texas. I understand Doctor Seng had lots of brothers who intern had lots of extended family and the thought is you might be from that family.

Snow storm on the Miramichi today. Hoping to be back on the highway to Toronto on Saturday morning.  Every night is filled with spectacular dinners, feasts would be a better word.  Was up to Uncle George's today and enjoyed getting lost in the wonderful books which are always around that livingroom over there with Tom's classics playing in the background.

Weblineindia:

The Board of Directors of the Gill Net Lodge have considered your request for services.  Director Brenda suggests we fly to Bombay for direct consultations.  Director Anne Marie suggests the board meet further in Calgary to discuss our intentions.  Director Mary Ellen says Bombay sounds quite nice.  Director Fred says funds could be re-directed from the big dig in Boston.  Director Tom didn't show up for the meeting and is resumed to be shooting pool somewhere.  Director Patty says she is looking forward to trying authentic Indian cuisine. We will be in touch.

Hi Everyone,

I am sitting here in my new rental house in Las Vegas with Terry and my two kids soaking up the sun!!! I think the weather is going to be in the 50's today.  Christmas was great!  My kids gave me lots of chocolate.  Teaching the last few months has been all encompassing in my life.  I feel like I am slowly coming out of a decompression chamber!  I heard from my Mom that the Gill Net was still active.  I was happy to hear that and the past few hours I have been catching up!

John, Heather and family are flying to Vegas this Thurs. and staying the weekend.  It will great to see them!

Life in Vegas is no different from many other place.  We rarely go down to the strip.  The kids are in soccer year round which can be a pain or a blessing!  Well, I wish everyone a Happy New Year and a Healthy One too.
