Ann and I were up to the Norwest this am. We have a small property there we call Aunt Sue's property which is situated about one mile below the Wayerton bridge. The drive back the Chaplin Island Road was incredible with the colour of the autumn leaves. The property was spectacular with all the colors. The river was so peaceful. Water was as clear as glass. A lone river duck was lazily allowing the water current to travel down river. During our walk around the property we came upon three white tailed deer. The freshness of the air with its fall smells was devine. It is so great to be back here on the Miramichi.

Hey Kev.......glad
things are calming down in Burnt Church. I read your comment on the
NorthWest Miramichi. It must be nice to see the colours. Unfortunately,
I was awakened to a snow blizzard.....smile.
Blizzard?? Yikes,
Will! I was up at 5am today and drove up to the Cowichan River to
fly fish salmon. This fish jumped in front of me this morning and
my first thought it was a baby beluga - man are these salmon big!!!
It had to be at least 30 pounds. The river is not much larger than
the Mill Stream. No luck yet with one on the other end of my fly
line however the river is quite low - apparently lots of salmon hanging
around at the mouth. Cheers.
Kevin,
I can just feel how happy you are to be home. Your description of your and Ann's beautiful autumn day yesterday was so vivid I felt like I was right there with you. There is no place more beautiful than New Brunswick in the fall.
John, have you started on your pumpkins yet? I pulled out my kit yesterday to decide which faces I will attempt this year. :-)
Mary W.
Yep, I've been
having fun already Mary! Actually, a local craft store (Michael's)
sells craft pumpkins you can carve (manufactured-they last forever and
look like the real thing). They are harder to carve out however as
I have to replace real ones which collapse (eventually) I can use some
of these in my arsenal...:) In addition to the usual scary fare,
there is also a 60's theme - expecting about 50 or so for the 60's Halloween
Party on Saturday the 28th..:) John V
Hi all,
My weekend on the town was fabulous. The two expressions we kept saying were "Fill your boots!" and "You're dead a long, long time" (excuse to indulge in many ways :)). It was way overdue. I didn't realize how much I needed a break from being everything except "Mary Ellen" until I was into the weekend. We have planned to make it an annual event and to really live it up next year as it will be my big "_ _" birthday.
I hope everyone is well. I have the day off today (sort of) to get ready for Thanksgiving. I hope to be able to take next week off as well to prepare for my dear little Katie-Rose's 1st birthday on Friday, the 13th. I cannot believe how fast the year has gone and the number of changes which have happened.
Take Care everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving.....ME
Hello Again,
Hope your holiday weekend was great Mary Ellen. Mary W., I was indeed quite rushed running from gate to gate at O'Hare - did have an exciting trip. Was able to visit Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on Saturday night to see the Yanks lose big time. This lady ID'd me when I ordered a beer. She said it was mandatory however with my gray trim, I think she was taking things a bit far!
Now that my trip is over, I can begin concentrating on PUMPKINS...!
John V
Boy things do
change in a year! I took Katie-Rose for her 1 year check today and
was told she needs to slow down in her growth a bit. She is 33-1/2
inches tall and 32-1/2 pounds (she has her mother's genes :)). Last
year they were worried about her because she was losing too much weight.
John,
Your N.Y. trip sounded pretty exciting. How did the job interview go? Might you really be moving there is things work out? Then we'd all have a place to stay when we visit the big apple! :-) By the way, getting carded would make my day, my week, my year, my life! :-)
Dad will be visiting the week of Haloween again this year so we'll have to have a little pumpkin carving party again, just like last year. I have to remember to go buy some!
Mary W.
Hi Mary,
Going to be communicating back and forth for a couple of weeks as a follow-up from my trip and I should have an idea by then as to whether I am heading east. Potential relocation involves so much stuff and its never over til its over..:)
Figured out a great way to get lots of pumpkins carved. (I am feeling lazy this year.) Having a company pumpkin carving party in the yard tomorrow and with about 30 potential carvers WHAT A WAY TO FILL THE YARD! :) I was showing a friend this evening my pumpkins from last year on the Gill Net from and they are here.

Had a great supper at Uncle George Kingston's home last evening. George did a great job on huge roast. Stephanie made the remainder with some add ons like Aunt Carmel's rolls, my mother's rolls, deserts, and salads. Always great to see Uncle Ally. Tells me he shot a partridge the other day, and " I felt some friggen bad, judas, I put the shotgun away and I am never huntin again". Irene Loggie was also there. Great to see everyone.
Kevin
John you can't
move - your street wouldn't be the same with out you.
GREAT job.
Patty.
(Thanks
Patty...:) jv)
John,
The Pumpkin Patch
looks wonderful! We are having a Pumpkin carving contest for our
students of the College tomorrow. I hope I see some of this calibre
there. Take Care....
Hello Kingston Cyberspacers,
Tom K. arrives tomorrow night for the weekend - he'll have to dress up in 60's garb for the party here on Saturday...my pumpkins were on the local CTV last evening and I am back to having several hundred people at night in my yard. I tell my friends like last time, the carving is fun and then I want to move out for a week..:) Everything is compost by next week!
I have to scoot down to Seattle next week for a U.S. immigration meeting..could be yay, could be nay, and life will unfold in whichever direction it's supposed too.
Happy Halloween Mary Ellen..:).

Big snow storm here today on the Miramichi. The earliest I have seen or heard tell of in my 44 years. The storm is accompanied by unusually high tide and the parts of the town are flooded, especially down behind the town hall. The water is almost up over the pillars supporting the Morissy Bridge. Water did not reach the town square however covers the street that Esson Casey Tire is situated. Snow continues to come down.
Last evening we
were all up at the Margie Craig's camp for a great roast beef supper.
George and Stephanie were there. Great meal. It was 19 degrees
centigrade 64 degrees F yesterday. What a change in the climate.
The ole Nor West looked awfully rough last night, it looks like an old
river in the fall, it looks as if it is upset and cranky about the coming
winter. I wonder if my great great grandfather had the same thoughts.
Kevin
Last time to say
HELLO in October - HELLO! Really all that WHITE STUFF. Oh!
Oh! or HO ! Ho !
AUNT PATTY.
