Unicef Pumpkin Artist John Vickers is well known to many

                             for his phenomenal Government House pumpkin display in support of UNICEF.  In 2004, over

                            24,000 people attended the Pumpkin Art celebration on Rockland Road viewing over 300

                            illuminated carvings featuring such notables as Harry Potter to Queen Elizabeth.  Vickers

                            carvings have been previously presented at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto as part of a

                            fundraiser for UNICEF Canada.


                           Earlier this year Vickers began an effort to create another "not-to-miss" UNICEF event for

                          the city of Victoria.  The result is the launch of the first inaugral Victoria Masquerade Ball.

                          "Once we had the support of the Victoria Symphony and the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort, I new

                           this had all the makings of being a really fantastic event!", says Vickers adding,  "So many people

                           tell me that at one time or another they have envisioned attending a masquerade ball and this

                           will be without question, the black tie event of the year!".  

                           
                            UNICEF proceeds are being directed to assist children affected by the African Aids
