Hi All,
Anne Marie, I have very fond memories about your Easter Dinner - was fortunate enough to participate one year if you recall..:) Actually, come to think of it, that was almost ten years ago!
No Patty, that is not me fishing however early in May, I am flying home to do some black salmon fishing with my boss and his son who is 9. There are non-stop daily flights from here up to Halifax and I am renting a car from there. Sure looking forward to it, rain or shine.

Hello,
Do you possibly
have an e-mail address at which I can contact Peter Kingston Byberg.
I am an old friend of his, who would like to re-establish contact with
Peter. My name is John Gray.

Hi John:
Check out www.artizan.on.ca
- Isn't that Guy's site although there is no mention of his name...there
are however a couple of phone #s. From what I can recall, I think
that is him.
Cheers,
Brenda
Incredibly fascinating
site for me to find!!! My father is Paul Kingston Larner Jr. and
the son of Kingston Larner MD. I am not sure he is aware of this
site, but I have emailed him a couple of links to view.
Hi Constance:
The page is dedicated
to the descendants of Sam and Lillian Kingston. Sam was the brother
of Ann Larner and if I am wrong, everyone out there will correct me.
So next question: is Ann Larner your Grandmother or great grandmother?
Cheers,
Brenda (Kingston)
MacKinnon - daughter of William (son of Sam)
Hi all,
Brenda, I am impressed with your knowledge of the family. It seems this website is reaching farther and wider lately. I am really glad to see the interest grow and continue.
It is another wintery day in Miramichi. I was suppose to go to Bathurst this afternoon, but because of the snow and my sleep deprived state, I decided to stay in the office and get caught up on a few things -- including sneaking a peek at the Gill Net Lodge over lunch.
I haven't been sleeping lately because Katie-Rose catapulted out her crib last week and refuses to go back in. She is in bed with me and Ray has been sent to the couch. What is it with children that they sleep at 90 degrees to their parents? Last night I took a cramp in my leg and actually sent her rolling over the edge. Boy was she mad at me! She doesn't have red hair for nothing. Ray and I have a king size bed on order and hope that there will be plenty of room for everyone.
Well, best get
back to work. Take Care everyone.
Good job, Kevin.
It was a tough situation to be in and you made us all proud to be related
to you....ME
Happy Easter to all
It is snowing
and looks more like Christmas than Easter. The turkey will be ready
to be stuffed soon -- 21lbs. I'm running around getting the house
presentable for the 16 guests expected around 5 pm.
Went to Estelle,
my future daughter-in law's wedding shower yesterday. Can't believe
Jayson and Estelle are getting married on May 12, 2001. The shower
was held at his step-mothers home. Met Estelle's mother and sisters--they
were very nice. Jayson then cooked dinner for us and even made a
chocolate cake!
Enjoy your Easter and reflect on the wonderous events in life.
Anne Marie
Constance Catherine Larner,
Now would there be any question that someone with such a name would not be related or more directly a direct cousin. What is it with the Kingston clan, that we come up with such great and proud names. Samuel Kingston Vickers, Samuel Weissler, etc. etc. Great to see that you found this web page and we all hope that you will be very much at home with this crowd who indeed share a few common strands of DNA with you.
Kevin
I haven't checked in for awhile and it appears new people are finding us. Cool! I was especially interested in the note from Catherine Larner. Now, who is she exactly? Brenda?? (Catherine, excuse me for talking about you as if you aren't here.) :-) Welcome to the Kingston site and I hope your father finds his way to us as well.

Aunt Patty,
It's been about 72 hours since you announced that you and Brendan were about to be grandparents in 48 hours (due date).... Any news on the latest addition to the Kingston clan?
Tom
HI, I ARRIVED INTO THE KINGSTON CLAN SUNDAY APR. 22 JUST AS MY DOCTOR REQUESTED AT 6 20. MY PROUD PARENTS ROBERT & ANNE MARIE CALLED ME SARA MADISON KELLY. I LIKE IT. I WILL BE KEEPING IN TOUCH.
LOVE FROM GRANDMA,
PATTY
Congratulations
Aunt Patty. Glad to hear there is another addition to the clan!
I hope the parents and child are doing well. Please keep us posted....
Hi all,
I have been using my lunch hour to whip around the Internet looking for information to help Rebecca. She was given a detention last week in school (yes, in Grade 1) and then Ray & I had to go in to see the teacher as she is very concerned about her.
I think the teacher wanted to say that Rebecca has ADD, but I stopped her in her tracks. Many thanks to Mary Rawlinson for being a great ear and providing great advice, as it helped me prepare for the meeting.
The reason I decided
to share this in the Gill Net is that the research I found is that gifted
and creative kids are often mislabelled as ADD and I know many of the Kingstons
are extremely bright and may have felt like Rebecca in school. She
is a square peg being forced to fit in a round hole and I, personally,
do not want her to lose the great qualities of being a square peg.
Any suggestions you can give me from your own personal experiences would
be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, again Mary.
>MY PROUD PARENTS ROBERT & ANNE MARIE CALLED ME SARA MADISON KELLY<
Another grand Kingston name to add to our history. Congratulations to all! :-)
Mary W.
>Mary W. - how did the voting turn out?<
The MinPin won! It was tooth and nail at the end so thanks to everyone who voted! :-)

>The reason I decided to share this in the Gill Net is that the research I found is that gifted and creative kids are often mislabelled as ADD and I know many of the Kingstons are extremely bright<
I agree with you 300% ME and I'm glad you told that teacher where to get off. I just have to wonder who named themselves God and decided the round hole was the one everyone should fit into. It's probably just the one "the majority" fits into so that has become the norm. I don't have kids but all this ADD labeling really scares me...it seems to be a catchall for kids that have problems conforming/fitting into the prescribed regimines. A lot of these kids end up on Ritalin and that in itself is terrifying. Additionally, placing a lable on a child that relegates him into a category that is "deviant" has to have a huge impact on that child's sense of worth, belonging and security. If I may digress a bit, it seems the dog training world is WAYYYYY ahead of the child training world at this point in time.
Dog training used to be very judgemental and punishment oriented. It focused on the human "dominating" the dog, demanding certain behaviors/commands and punishing/correcting if those requests were not fulfilled. Stanley is a VERY difficult dog. He was surrendered to a local shelter at the age of 11 mos. because his previous owners could not control him. When we adopted him he honestly thought his name was "NOOOO!!!!!" We are fortunate enough to have a team of really cutting edge trainers here in Milwaukee. We've been with them for the past 2 years with Stanley and he's just made remarkable progress. Without getting into a lot of detail, he's been in Bridge & Target training which is the method developed to train marine animals...yes, it's what they use to train the dolphins and whales at Sea World. It is a TOTALLY positive reinforcement, operant conditioning training method. Without getting into the logistics, it praises VERY accurately EXACTLY what you want and has lots of "warm warm warm" clues to guide the dog to getting there. There are absolutely no corrections. Negative responses are simply ignored and correct ones are praised like crazy. Stanley is in a very advanced class now and is an ACE! He LOVES this stuff! He lives to "work" at training. He's so good at it and he's been asked to focus on something positive for the first time in his life. Berating the bad will get you nowhere. Determining the good and guiding the dog with praise toward that end will get you everwhere. Stanley is, hands down, the star of his class. He's so focused and attentive on getting praise it would make your head spin! The key to getting positive responses from people (kids are just little people) and dogs is not any different in my mind. Good luck with her and if this teacher doesn't capitulate send Rebecca to me and I'll take her to Bridge & Target class with Stanley! :-))
I have some pics of Stanley "singing"...a trick I bridged all by myself. Also have some pics of wee Joe Kingston Weissler y'all might like to see. Is John Vickers' addy still the same so I can send them to him to post? I guess they could all go in the "Family Pets" section. LOL!
Mary W.
Thanks John but I was asking if your E-MAIL addy has changed. We have a digital camera. Have a great time on the Miramichi and send us updates!
The long-winded note about dog training was getting at a point I may have neglected to make. :-) In dog training "there is no such thing as a bad dog" and if it ain't workin' it's YOUR fault and you must adjust your training techniques accordingly. Would that our educational systems were more like this. It's pretty easy to slap a lable on a kid, say he's incorrigable because he has an "illness" and shirk the responsibility of finding better ways to motivate/engage him. If Stanley had been in Rebecca's class he would have racked up enough d-notes to get expelled on day 1!
Mary W.
Many thanks, Mary. I think what I have asked the teacher to do fits in well with this method you described. Rebecca often had her name on the board ( a sign she had done something wrong -- usually talking) before 9:00am. She felt like a failure and we (Ray & I) would talk and talk about what was wrong with this and the fact that all she had to do was to stop talking. One day she cried and said, "Mommy you make me feel dumb!" She also told the principal of her former school ( and who had put her in an enriched program during Kindergarten) "I used to be smart, but now I'm not". These things ate away at all of us -- mostly Rebecca's self-esteem and she saw herself as dumb, unworthy, and acted out as a result.
Yesterday, we
started with the new routine in her class that Ray & I asked the teacher
to try. The teacher no longer puts Rebecca's name on the board and
then adds check marks for each bad thing. She now has divided the day into
four time periods and if Rebecca does well, she gets a sticker for that
period of time. If she gets all four stickers, she gets an extra
one to put on her name in the classroom. Rebecca responds very well
to positive praise (like Stanley) and LOVES stickers. Rebecca told me she
had a great day yesterday -- she got all four stickers -- and was really
pleased with herself. I am so glad we addressed this now in the way
we have or I fear what might have happened. Take Care...ME
Hi Everyone,
Well I know I've been awful about writing - call it full-time working mother syndrome - or just an excuse! Anyway I have often thought of all of you and the wonderful time on the Miramichi. John V. how was your fishing trip?
We are busy planning this year's vacation and are going to head west to the see the other side of the family. We are planning to do a loop through Spokane and are hoping to see Bethy, Terry & girls. Does anyone have an e-mail or phone number so that I can get in touch with them? Isn't it great to have cousins all over the country that you can go and visit?
We are busy getting
ready for Rebecca's first communion. Bernie, Pat, Pattie & Matt
Sullivan and Uncle Frank Corless are flying in next week. It's great
to have your own priest that just flies in for these type of events.
Father Corless gave me my first communion, married Hugo & I and baptized
both the kids so we are really lucky to have him in our lives. It
should be a great time. Say a prayer for Rebecca at 1p.m. CST on
Sunday May 20th!
Take care everyone!
Theresa

ME, this is just such awesome news! I'm sure Rebecca will thrive in this new positive environment. Excellent thinking on your part to come up with a great way to totally turn this around. Find the good and praise it! You'd make an excellent dog trainer, BTW. :-)

Hello Theresa. You are so right we can find so many excuses not to write, glad you did. I usually check the 'net twice a week- love reading the mail. HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY TO YOU.
AUNT PATTY
May 12, 2001 Jayson married Estelle 75 years after to the day his Seng Grandparents were married - Stephanie's parents. I have become a mother -in-law to a wonderful young woman. The couple exchanged vows which they had written themselves. John and Heather Kingston and their daughters represented the Kingston Family. It was all so exciting and fun.
Congrats Patty --on a beautiful granddaughter.
Theresa, hope you can come through Calgary 403-242-1440 on your way to see Bethy and her family. Her number is 509-483-6382.
Mary Ellen, glad the school could accommodate your daughter's need for positive reinforcement.
John, heard the weather was great for your fishing trip and Kevin, hope the lobster season is quiet for you.
Happy Mother's
Day to all the mothers
Anne Marie
John,
The pictures are wonderful. I don't recognize the little lad with you. Who is he? He looks like he was enjoying the camp as much as you were.
Great to see the rain today. I did some major landscaping work on the weekend and was able to plant grass seed before it all started. Hopefully it will all grow well.
For Mothers day,
I received 4 2x10s and 2 bags of peat moss. I am so excited as I
will actually have a vegetable garden this year! Rebecca is at the
right age to help me so it should be a lot of fun. That is next weekend's
project -- if my back and legs hold up ha!!
Hi Mary Ellen, I went up with my employer and his son who is 9. He slept all the way to Halifax and on the plane to Newark on the way back - no energy left..:)
John V
John, the pictures were awesome and boy did they bring back memories. I know I have a pic of you and me on that same hanging bridge many moons ago. (sigh) I'll see if I can find it.
Mary W.
Anne Marie,
Congratulations to Jayson and Estelle! I checked out the pictures and they are wonderful. I love weddings. I had such a good time at my own that I sometimes wish I had the money of Delta Burke and could do like her and get remarried every year! I think it would be a good opportunity to renegotiate the contract as well ha!!
