Well, thank you Mary!  I seem to be falling out of end of month house cleaning at the Gill Net and doing it at will in recent months - such is the choice bestowed an editor...:)

Off to a conference in Oregon in June and really looking forward to the trip.  I am leaving several days earlier and going to fly further up to Victoria and visit my friends - the toughest part of moving from one end of the continent to the other is saying good-bye to everyone you know.  It is going to be great to see everyone.  Can't wait!

With the quick trip home last weekend and work, today is the first day in my house in two weeks.  I surveyed the interior this morning and have come to the following conclusions:

a.  There should be carpet somewhere under the clothes strewn across my bedroom floor.
b.  It will be nice after cleaning today that I won't have to wash a utensil prior to using it.
c.  The newspapers around my house represent 12 harvested acres of dense New Brunswick forest.

I usually keep the place in shape but this last go-round was a losing battle...:)

Hi all,

When there haven't been any messages for a few days, I feel obligated to send one.  Anyway, I have just finished packing and am waiting for my drive to take me to Moncton.  Tomorrow morning I am heading to Windsor, Ontario for a College conference.  The person I will be travelling with is loads of fun, so I hope I will have a good time as well of course learn lots of things :).  Ray has taken the girls camping with his brother as he did not think he could handle 5 days with them cooped up in the house.  They should have nice weather.  It is 27 today and expected to stay warm to hot all weekend. Take Care.....

I am envious Mary Ellen...it is almost cold here with heavy rains all week and expected to continue through our long weekend....Burrrrr!  John

We're on our tenth consecutive day of sunshine, warmth, and cloudless skies here in Vancouver... I can barely remember what rain is like.  I guess Edmonton can brag almost the same.... with the dense smoke from the nearby forest fire, I don't think they could see the clouds if they were there...Health Canada issued an advisory for people to stay indoors as much as possible and not to exercise.... John and Heather - I'm wondering if we can get "a first hand person on the scene" report from you as to just how bad the forest fire is....

June 1st is here....!

Hi Kingstons,

Yes, Tom there has been a bear attack about 10 miles from here.  He was a former student of mine.  I was sickened when I heard about it .  Although there has never been a black bear attack ever recorded in NWT history before this one, people uphere, are usually aware what to do when approached by one.  The black bear, unlike a barren ground grizzly, will continue to fight you even if you play dead.  The only hope is to fight.  Black bears are just coming out of their dens and have no food sources till the berries and other vegetation starts to grow.  Last year alone RWED. have tranquilized over 40 bears that wondered into the city - one just on Friday.

Anyway, I heard word that I will be part of the funeral services for Kyle Harry, who was camping by the way.  This particular bear was still there when the RCMP arrived.  The bear was shot however escaped.

On a happier note, I will planting all the flowers from my greenhouse today.  Tell Mom and Dad that my dailias are up and doing very well....forgot mention it to to them yesterday...

Hello to everyone!

Will

Hi:

Just to set Aunt Patty right on her birth dates......Carol Anne Kingston Miller on June 2, and Sharon Kingston Burn on July 2......hey, I called Sharon on June 2 thinking it was her birthday, so Patty, I am not sure how you are able to keep these all straight.  I need lessons!!!!!

Will, that is so sad about your former student.....it must be a gruesome way to die.  We had a black bear on our property last spring.  In fact, our dog, Harley, treed him at one point.  I must say I never felt threatened by him...I expect that he may have been a "yearling" I think they call them.  Anyhow, after the treeing, he/she never returned.  Black bears are certainly not uncommon in these parts.

Love to all,
Brenda

Hi all,

Things are busy, busy this time of year with graduation at the College, Rebecca finishing school and heading out to camp, gardening, etc. etc.

Rebecca suckered me into going to one of the local high schools last night to see the graduates come in for the Prom.  One of the people going up the red carept in all her finery was Mary Rawlinson!  Mary, you looked marvelous!!!  I figure you must have been chaperoning.  The dresses on the young women were unbelievable.  Quite different than when Will and I graduated.  The event was at par with the Oscars.  They were announced and everything.  The vehicles were incredible, too.

I hear Aunt Laureen is not well.  I hope that she is improving.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her.

Take Care, everyone....ME
