You've probably heard it before - there are no second chances on a first good impression.  Lasting opinions are quite often formed in the first few seconds of meeting someone.  It is often referred to as the "7-second countdown clock".  Whether you are a canvasser or custom installation sales person, recognize the enhanced trust factor your personal presentation has in the eyes of a customer.

Think about it.  When you walk into Walmart, often someone will greet you and say "Welcome To Walmart!"  The customer entering into the purchasing arena of home alarms, sees no lobby, no bright hallways - all they see is you.  It's natural to present the most positive image you can present.

For Women:

Shine your shoes on a regular basis.  If you wear shoes which are scuffed and in desperate need of shining, it can say a lot about you.

The only acceptable jewelry for a man is a wedding band and your wristwatch.  Rings such as a high school ring are typically considered a no no.

If you wear glasses, don't underestimate the importance of finding frames that suit or compliment your face.  Don't trust yourself in finding the right pair.  Bring an honest friend along, go to an eye glass establishment and try on every pair in the store.  Getting tinted lenses is a no no.  Never hide your eyes.

Your hair should be neatly groomed.  Many people don't get their hair cut often enough.  There are many CEO'S of large corporations who get their hair trimmed every 12 to 14 days.  To remember, they simply schedule their next appointment ahead of time.
