Creating your own Project
Getting Ready to Start your own project
VERY IMPORTANT!!!

If you start MSProject98 by clicking "Start" "Programs" "MSProject", each time you save your MSProject98 file, a file called "global.mpt" is saved or modified too! By default, this is in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

However, if there is a file called "global.mpt" in the SAME folder as the your MSProject98 file, it will make changes to the "global.mpt" file in the SAME folder.

Therefore, you have to save both your MSProject98 file and "global.mpt" in order to truly save the file (if you want to transport your file). (There may be a way around this.  I know this way works!!!)

Start Windows Explorer and double click "C:\MSProject98 Presentation\Blank_Template.mpp".  You will see there is a "global.mpt" file in that folder.  Keep all of your files in this directory, or ensure you take a copy of "global.mpt" when you move to a new directory.

Always start MSProject using Windows Explorer and then double click the file you want!!

The next few slides take you through a five step process to creating your own project.
