Finding the right sales people is probably one of the biggest tasks in building a successful security system organization.  In North America today there are countless owners of alarm companies who proclaim, “If only I could find someone who knows how to sell!”  Meanwhile there are national security firms who are now investing considerable resources at their training centers presenting uniform sales training practices.
 
If case you haven't heard about it already - good salespeople are not born with their skills. It may seem apparent that an individual may have a natural gift for conversation and, similarly, a math teacher may have a natural gift for solving complex problems, however that's where it stops!  Way back when, someone had to teach that math teacher
1+1 = 2 and harder still, 2+2 =4!
 
In order to successfully lead a group of professional sales people, you must first learn to become a good sales person.
 
 
If your present reality as an alarm dealer is general manager of the team however, you have two choices.  Either invest the time and resources to become a good sales person, or try and attract a sales person capable of leading the team.  Also remember that while it's important to tape up sticks and replenish the water jugs, the name of the game is winning!
